Pain

Pain is where Traditional Chinese Medicine has its longest clinical record in the West. The research base supporting acupuncture for pain is now substantial, and the clinical results Kristi has seen over twenty years in the Santa Ynez Valley are consistent with it. Patients who have tried injections, physical therapy, medications, and other approaches often find that acupuncture addresses what those treatments could not.

Acupuncture treats pain at multiple levels simultaneously. It influences the fascia pathways that run throughout the body, reduces pro-inflammatory markers, interrupts pain signaling, and accelerates the body’s own healing response. Chinese herbal formulas and topical liniments extend the treatment between sessions. Frequency Specific Microcurrent adds a bioelectrical layer that reaches tissue acupuncture needles alone cannot always address.

Conditions Treated

NERVE PAIN

Sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ, trigeminal neuralgia, peripheral neuropathy, and pinched nerves anywhere in the body all produce pain, numbness, and tingling. Acupuncture has a strong clinical record for nerve pain. FSM is particularly effective here. It works directly at the bioelectrical level of nerve tissue and can reach damage that acupuncture needles do not always resolve on their own.

ARTHRITIS AND JOINT PAIN

Acupuncture reduces pain and inflammation in joints throughout the body: hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and the joints of the hands, feet, neck, and back. Patients with arthritis and joint pain tend to respond quickly in this practice. Many are out of pain and discussing other health concerns before long.

MIGRAINES AND HEADACHES

Headaches and migraines arise from different underlying imbalances. Structural issues, tension, hormonal patterns, and circulatory stagnation can all be contributing factors. The first step is determining the root cause through pulse and tongue diagnosis. That diagnosis guides the acupuncture and herbal treatment. Acupuncture can relieve an acute headache immediately. The course of treatment for lasting relief depends on the underlying pattern.

MYOFASCIAL PAIN AND SCAR TISSUE

FSM is especially well-suited to myofascial pain and scar tissue. Using a specialized threading technique, Kristi treats scar tissue from surgery, injury, and other causes. Patients report significant improvements in scar appearance and flexibility, including surgical scars left nearly invisible following treatment.

PRE AND POST-SURGICAL RECOVERY

Acupuncture and FSM support recovery before and after surgery. Scar therapy is applied at the site to speed local healing. General and auricular points address the effects of anesthesia, improve circulation, and promote detoxification. Herbal liniments and topicals increase blood flow. FSM accelerates tissue repair at the cellular level.

FSM and pain: Frequency Specific Microcurrent delivers targeted electrical current that works at the cellular level to reduce inflammation, soften scar tissue, and restore nerve function. It is available to established patients and is often combined with acupuncture for the strongest results in complex pain cases.
