Chronic Illness

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used in the treatment of chronic illness for centuries. It continues to help patients create health as part of an integrated approach that works alongside conventional care, not in competition with it. Kristi works with each patient individually, building a treatment plan specific to their constitution and the pattern of their illness.

Pulse and tongue diagnosis gives Kristi a precise picture of each patient’s channel imbalances. This guides the acupuncture, the herbal prescription, and the dietary recommendations. The gut is central to this approach: Traditional Chinese Medicine has understood for centuries that digestive health is foundational to immunity, mood, energy, and overall resilience.

Conditions Treated

DIABETES AND METABOLIC CONDITIONS

Traditional Chinese Medicine views diabetes as a pattern of Yin deficiency that can be addressed through acupuncture, herbal formulas, and dietary guidance. All three patterns (upper, middle, and lower) corresponding to excessive thirst, hunger, and urination are recognized and treated. Acupuncture has also demonstrated benefit for the neuropathic pain that often accompanies diabetes.

ARTHRITIS AND JOINT PAIN

Acupuncture reduces pain and inflammation in joints throughout the body: hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and the joints of the hands, feet, neck, and back. Patients with arthritis and joint pain tend to respond quickly in this practice. Many are out of pain and discussing other health concerns before long.

THYROID DISEASE

Both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are understood in Traditional Chinese Medicine as Yin/Yang imbalances. Acupuncture, herbal formulas, and dietary therapy address the underlying channel disturbances and support endocrine function. The World Health Organization includes thyroid disease on its list of conditions for which acupuncture is recommended.

ADRENAL FATIGUE

When the adrenal glands are overworked during extended periods of stress, they lose the ability to produce the hormones the body needs. The result is fatigue, food cravings, and disrupted sleep. Traditional Chinese Medicine nourishes and restores the kidney channel, which governs the energy reserves the body draws on under stress. Acupuncture, herbal formulas, and lifestyle adjustments are combined to rebuild adrenal resilience.

AUTO-IMMUNE CONDITIONS

Acupuncture and herbal medicine offer a layer of immune-regulatory support for auto-immune conditions. Treatment is tailored to the specific pattern and works alongside the patient’s conventional care plan.

LONG COVID AND FATIGUE

FSM and acupuncture are effective tools for the nervous system dysregulation and persistent fatigue that characterize long COVID. FSM works directly at the cellular and bioelectrical level, addressing the tissue damage and disrupted signaling that standard approaches do not always reach.

FSM and chronic illness: For chronic conditions involving nervous system dysregulation, cellular damage, or persistent inflammation, FSM adds a treatment dimension that acupuncture and herbs alone cannot always provide. It is particularly useful for fatigue, neuropathy, and conditions where the body’s repair mechanisms have been consistently overloaded.

Book an Appointment

Chronic illness benefits most from an approach that treats the root pattern, not just the presenting symptoms. If you are managing a condition that has not fully responded to conventional treatment alone, a thorough intake is the first step toward understanding what is possible.
